Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Award

2014-2015

The University of Victoria Vice-President Academic and Provost sponsors a research scholarship program - the Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Awards (JCURA) - to allow exceptional undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in research relevant to their discipline.

Vikes Honour Roll and Academic All Canadian
2011-2014

In 1990-91 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) initiated the Academic All-Canadian program, which recognizes individual student-athletes who achieve an 80 percent academic average (6.6 GPA on the UVic scale) while contributing significantly to a varsity athletic team in a given scholastic year. Vikes Athletics has expanded the Academic All-Canadian program to include those student-athletes competing on varsity teams not sanctioned by the CIS. Vikes Honour Roll recipients represent the very best in our Vikes athletic program.

Provost Award
2012-2013

This award is presented to a returning varsity student-athlete with the highest academic average who has satisfied the minimum requirements for acclamation as a Vikes Honour Roll recipient based on the previous year.

Smithers Secondary School

I completed my honours degree in kinesiology at the University of Victoria in 2015. I have achieved A+'s in a number of challenging upper levels courses including Functional Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics and Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries. My honours research allowed me to work closely with a Ph. D candidate student, Matt Jenson and associate professor, Marc Klimstra, who taught me to consolidate research articles, and the precision and care required for data collection and data input.
