MOVE Adapted Fitness and Rehabilitation Society
May 2014-Present

At MOVE Adapted Fitness and Rehabilitation Society I work with a variety of clients all of whom have different needs. Clients have a range of afflictions from brain and spinal cord damage, to multiple sclerosis, to individuals who have suffered strokes.  At MOVE Adapted Fitness I work to provide a safe environment, where clients can work to improve their quality of life. My fondest memory was watching a lady stand up with the aid of parallel bars for the first time in years. The look of joy on her face reminded to cherish the simple aspects of my everyday life. The specialized fitness center, allows me the opportunity to work one on one with clients in an encouraging social manner. Each week I return to MOVE Adapted Fitness, excited to see the regulars, as well as any new clients.

PISE Adapted Strength and Conditioning
May 2014-Present

During PISE's Adapted Strength and Conditioning classes I work primarily with a young girl with cerebral palsy, and visual perception deficits. The focus is on improving functional components of daily living. In the time that I have worked with her, she has progressed from leaning on me as we walk downstairs, to being able to walk independently downstairs carrying a weight. Another key area of focus has been improving her body awareness and balance. She has taking huge steps in improving both. Moving forward we are looking to prepare her to challenge for the next belt in her karate classes. I have found it to be an extremely positive experience, and am looking forward to positive future changes for both of us.

Everfitt Movement Inc.
January 2015-Present

Everfitt Movement Inc has provided me with a wonderful learning environment. A registered member of the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists has taught me how to administer different functional movement screens including the Tinetti Balance and Gait Assessment and the Fullerton Advanced Balance Score. The tests are extremely practical, and develop a strong baseline allowing cliental to witness personal improvement. Additionally, I have been able to practice testing blood pressure and heart rate for a different population than the one readily available at university. I look forward in continuing to learn from staff at Everfitt Movement Inc. and strengthening relationships with Victoria's active seniors.

Velox Rugby Football Club
January 2014-April 2014

Velox Rugby Football Club was extremely beneficial to the development of my practical skills, providing me an opportunity to work on my on and off field assessment skills. The most notable injury I got to assess was a dislocated shoulder. The experience was very rewarding and reminded me of the challenges with working with athletes whose only focus is return to play, regardless of their injury.
