Hockey

For as long as I can remember, I've played hockey. Hockey was my first love. As with all loves there has been a lot of ups and downs. I enjoyed successes such as 17-1 season that culminated in competing at provincials, being named to U-16 Best-ever team that represented the Northwest zone team, and playing Junior "A" hockey with the Prince George Sprucekings. However, their were disappoints including several times being the favoured team and faltering in provincial qualifiers, and being cut from the U-17 High Performance team that would represent a 2000km long region of northern British Columbia. Through the ups and downs, hockey taught me the very self serving atribute of resiliance.

Soccer

Soccer was a huge part of my life, attempting to rival hockey for my attention during high school. From the age of 12 until after I graudated I played for the Bulkley Valley Rapids. Following each season we would qualify for provincials. Although we were never the most skilled team, we competed and beat teams made of soccer specialists. After coming 4th during our U-15 year, we would return the following year and win U-16 Provincial "B" championship. Two years later, in our last season together we placed 3rd. Soccer taught me that good communication skills can allow a player to contribute to a team far beyond their own skill level and reinforced the fact that a team is greater than the sum of its parts

Rowing

Following my hockey career, the bright light at the end of my once promising athletic tunnel began to fade rapidly. Luckily I found rowing and have been presented with a second chance at high performance sports. Rowing presented me a competitive outlet. During my 1st year the freshman boat was undefeated, highlighted by wins at Western Canadian University Rowing Championships (WCURC), the OSU-UVic duel and the Brown Cup Reserve race. I was awarded the Novice of the Year. My 2nd year saw successes at WCURC and the Brown Cup Reserve race. My 3rd year I struggled though injury problems 4th year saw victories at WCURC, Head of the Gorge, and establishing course records at the Tail of the Gorge and Brown Cup.
